MELANOMA UK SUPPORTS A UK PATIENT LIVING IN HONG KONG

After years of sunbathing and using tanning salons, fair-skinned Englishwoman Adele Hughes was diagnosed with Stage 3 melanoma skin cancer in 2019.

Ahead of Melanoma Skin Cancer Awareness Month in May, Adele shares her story, and the lessons about the sun’s dangers she passes on to her kids and that even on a cloudy day you need to protect your skin.

CHMP RECOMMENDS APPROVAL OF OPDIVO (NIVOLUMAB)

Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use (CHMP) of the European Medicines Agency (EMA) has recommended approval of Opdivo (nivolumab) as a monotherapy for the adjuvant treatment of adults and adolescents 12 years of age and older with completely resected stage IIB or IIC melanoma.

SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS

About half of all melanomas start with a change in previously normal-looking skin. This usually looks like a dark area or an abnormal new mole.
SKIN SELF EXAMINATION

We recommend that you do a head-to-toe self-examination of your skin every month. This way you can find any new or changing lesions that might be cancerous or precancerous.
STAGES OF MELANOMA

The stage of a cancer is a term used to describe the size and depth of the melanoma, and whether it has spread. Knowing the stage of your cancer helps doctors decide on the best treatment for you.
