Dr Michael Coppen MB BS FRCPath is 62 year old retired histopathologist with twenty seven years exerience as a consultant.

Working for  twenty one years at Croydon University Hospital, four  years at Ipswich Hospital and long locums  at Yeovil and Royal berkshire Hospitals.

Dr Coppen was a general histopathologist  with a personal special interest in dermatopathology – especially malignant skin tumours.

He endeavoured to provide the highest quality service  in his work, gave intradepartmental second opinions, carried out audits, attended courses, read many books, articles and was the skin cancer MDT lead for many years at several hospitals  including Ipswich  and Royal Berkshire.

Though retired and has taken voluntary erasure from the GMC register nevertheless he has  an interest and compassion for melanoma  sufferers. This is partly because of his  Christian faith and partly because two of his  family members have  had and survived melanoma.

According to literature he has a 600 times increased risk of  the disease. Although he no longer practices Dr Coppen is happy to  offer advice and input when required.
