The My Melanoma App not only benefits people with melanoma directly through helping them to manage their disease and record their symptoms (as well as many other features!), but also through the donations made to Melanoma UK from the participation in the app - it’s a win-win.

To do more, we are joining in the fundraising efforts to help Melanoma UK help you.

Vitaccess is proud to offer a modern and easy way of managing a patients condition whilst helping research to improve care.

In the “My Melanoma App” a patient has access to a symptom tracker, knowledge feature, community feature and medical profile. The information collected is important to academic researchers, such as hospitals and universities, and to pharmaceutical companies who are developing drugs and other treatments for melanoma.

This project is based on a profit share between Melanoma UK and Vitaccess. Academics (like universities) get free access to the anonymised data, but private sector companies (like the pharmaceutical industry) pay for access. Subscriptions from pharmaceutical company researchers have already enabled Vitaccess to donate £10,000 to Melanoma UK towards an Automated Total Body Mapping (ATBM) mole mapper for Royal Liverpool & Broadgreen University Hospital NHS Trust.

By recording data in the app, you are also financially directly supporting Melanoma UK. Since June 2019, the Melanoma UK app features a rewards scheme where for each survey completed, Melanoma UK receives a £1 donation. Within a year of its launch, the rewards scheme has raised £1,964 and we’re still counting!

All funds raised via the “My Melanoma App” will go toward our appeal. Therefore, by participating in our study, you’re not only helping research, you are also helping Melanoma UK provide support to the melanoma community.
