MELANOMA UK CHALLENGES MANCHESTER CITY ON SUNCREAM BAN

Our CEO, Gill Nuttall, challenges Manchester City after fans were told they could not take sun cream to the Etihad Stadium.

Before Saturday’s 4-0 Premier League victory against Bournemouth, where temperatures reached 31C, City said “Sun cream will not be permitted on entry into the stadium. We advise supporters to apply this before coming and to bring a hat and water.”

Manchester City’s policy is disappointing and very worrying, especially with the increase in skin cancer incidence rates. Numerous newspapers are covering the story, we have offered our support to work with Manchester City so we will keep you updated on progress and their reply.

Melanoma UK provides patients and families with the much-needed support right from the point of diagnosis. Through education, advocacy and research, Melanoma UK strives to increase the awareness, understanding and prevention of melanoma skin cancer, which is the 5th most common cancer in the UK.

CHMP RECOMMENDS APPROVAL OF OPDIVO (NIVOLUMAB)

Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use (CHMP) of the European Medicines Agency (EMA) has recommended approval of Opdivo (nivolumab) as a monotherapy for the adjuvant treatment of adults and adolescents 12 years of age and older with completely resected stage IIB or IIC melanoma.

SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS

SKIN SELF EXAMINATION

We recommend that you do a head-to-toe self-examination of your skin every month. This way you can find any new or changing lesions that might be cancerous or precancerous.
