The NHS Long Term Plan was released earlier this month. Contributions submitted have shaped a strong and ambitious plan for cancer.

The Plan builds on the excellent progress made by the whole cancer community in delivering the Cancer Task Force Report and provides an exceptional opportunity to go further and faster to improve cancer care and survival.

Melanoma UK attended the Charity Event to discuss and understand the next steps for the NHS Long Term Plan, hosted by Cally Palmer, National Cancer Director, and David Fitzgerald, NHS Cancer Programme Director.

It was an important opportunity for many charities to come together and:

  • Find out more about the ambition and commitments for cancer in the NHS Long Term Plan and their vision for delivery.
  • Feed into the development of implementation plans for some of the key commitments.
  • Understand how Charities, Patient groups, patients and families that we all represent can continue to work with us to deliver the NHS Long Term Plan.

There were lots of questions and discussion points throughout the day.  We will endeavor to feedback as soon as output is received.
