Melanoma UK and health technology company SkinVision has joined forces to provide a service that helps people to perform regular skin checks and flags up potential cancers to the attention of healthcare professionals.

PERFORM A SELF CHECK ON YOUR SMARTPHONE

Perform regular self-checks for skin cancer with your phone using the SkinVision app.

SkinVision is a premium, paid for medical service that helps you assess skin spots and moles for the most common types of skin cancer.

Take a photo of the skin spot with your smartphone and you receive a risk indication by SkinVisions clinically validated technology within 30 seconds. SkinVision will provide recommendations on the next steps to take, including whether to visit a healthcare professional.

It is the aim of SkinVision to raise awareness of skin cancer and provide a regulated medical device to help individuals assess their risk and get to the doctor in time. SkinVision is certified by BSI.

Why use SkinVision?

SkinVision wants to empower you to check your skin spots for signs of skin cancer. Their technology analyzes your photo and gives you an instant risk assessment and advice on what you should do next so that you can see a doctor in time if needed.

SkinVision helps to detect skin cancer at an early stage when it’s most treatable.

Our partnership with SkinVision

Melanoma UK and SkinVision have partnered to fight melanoma skin cancer together. It is our mission to raise awareness and support people to proactively carry out skin self-examinations and seek support whenever needed.

Melanoma UK and SkinVision are proud to help you better manage your skin health and monitor it over time.

The partnership has provided over 1000 free annual licenses to existing melanoma patients (free access has now ended). This is equivalent to £50,000 worth of licenses that have given our patient community less anxiety during COVID.

If you would like to check out the app for yourself then:

  • Download the SkinVision App - Android or iPhone
  • Make an account - follow the sign-up process (Please remember to open the app on your smartphone)

As the SkinVision charity of choice, a donation will be made to Melanoma UK for every UK licence purchased to further other awareness campaigns.

SkinVision’s UK Director, Gavin Matthews said, “The drop in skin cancer diagnoses during the pandemic is a huge concern, and we haven’t even felt the impact yet. Alongside our work with the NHS to help them recover, this partnership is really exciting because it goes right to the root of the problem. The biggest challenge is still that people don’t have the awareness to check their skin often enough and don’t have the skills to check accurately when they do. Melanoma UK’s mission is something we’re proud to be part of, not just by helping early detection with our service now, but also through the other great work that our ongoing donations will support.”
