Due to the impact of the global pandemic caused by Covid-19, there has been a large increase in waiting times for patients to see their GP's resulting in a huge number of life-threatening Melanomas not being diagnosed.

At Melanoma UK, our mission is to ensure patients are fully supported through every stage of their skin cancer journey. It has never been more important for Melanoma UK and our primary care clinicians to collaborate with one another, particularly given that they are often present at the initial diagnosis of skin cancer.  But to do this they need the right resources and training.

With the support of one of our key partners, Schuco, during Melanoma Skin Cancer Awareness Month, we will be able to equip ten primary care practices across the UK with the tools and training to improve the standard of care offered to patients.

Schuco is not sitting on the side lines; they are supporting our vision and are taking the public on a journey to ‘find the missing Melanomas’ and improve the standard of care offered to patients.  Aiming to increase awareness and education of melanoma and non-melanoma skin cancers, prevention and empowering the UK public to take charge of their skin health.

Schuco will be donating 10 market leading DermLite dermatoscopes to Melanoma UK to be given out to primary care practices around the UK. These will include the best dermatoscope available in the world today, the DermLite DL4 as well as one of our most popular dermatoscopes, the DermLite DL200 Hybrid. Along with these scopes, Schuco will be providing connection kits and training to the winning practices to ensure that practitioners are equipped to not only change lives but save lives.

Patients will be able to nominate the practices they attend, but we’re also giving GPs the chance to nominate their own practices to be in with a chance to win one of these life changing medical devices.

What is a dermatoscope?

A dermatoscope is a hand-held visual aid device a doctor or person can use to examine and diagnose skin lesions and diseases, such as melanoma and non-melanoma skin cancer.
