Medical electives are an exciting part of the medical school journey where we can plan a placement, research project or wellness related activity that relates to medicine. My wellness elective aims to raise money for Melanoma UK over 30 days during my elective by walking 500,000 steps during this time. After a placement week in dermatology I realised that I am very interested in the care and treatment of skin conditions, therefore I decided that for my elective I would like to raise money to help those affected by melanoma, whilst also working on improving my own physical and mental health at the same time through physical exercise. Alongside this, I will be creating informational posts on my Instagram page set up for my elective about the topic. I am very excited to begin this journey and will continue to update on my progress throughout!
