With the help of The Tennant Street, Queens Park and Alma Street medical practices in Stockton-on-Tees our Melanoma UK Ambassador, Steve Wilson, pulled all the stops out to mark May as Melanoma Skin Cancer Awareness month.

May 6th was marked as Melanoma Awareness day across The Tennant Street, Queens Park and Alma Street medical practices in Stockton-on-Tees.

Each practice had a purple themed display, all containing a plethora of leaflets and posters all related to Melanoma - what it is and how to prevent it. Topics covered included, sun education, sun bed avoidance and sun protection.  We were delighted to have helped source some of the education posters.

Lisa Boyer (Social prescribing link worker) and her team had made purple iced cupcakes that spelt out ‘Melanoma awareness’ and ‘ skin cancer’ which were gratefully received, including Steve we bet!

They produced a melanoma related Quiz and the forms were distributed to the staff over the three practices.

There were two prizes available of SPF 50 Sun Cream & Chocolates.

All in all it was a very successful day and did generate lots of discussions amongst the staff, including members of the public taking a look at and picking up leaflets.

The following people all played a massive role in making the day such a success. Our amazing Ambassador, Steve Wilson, Lisa Boyer (Social prescribing link worker) Keria Nicholson, (Social Prescribing Link Worker) Bethany Squire, (Health and well being coach) Holly Hayllar (SPLW) and Sophie Jones (student Learning disability nurse)

Let's not forget the 'behind the scenes' team and give them a shout out. They include Katy McKay (SPLW), Sue Lee (SPLW for cancer) Peter Allison (Administration) Ann Simpson (Administration Manager) Tracy Garbutt (Practice Manager).
Thanks to everyone involved for taking time out to raise awareness and also make it fun!
