PSYCHOLOGICAL WELLBEING DESERVES AN EQUAL FOOTING

Today All.Can UK launches their #CancerOutOfSightNotOutOfMind campaign and releases the All.Can UK report: Placing the psychological wellbeing of people with cancer on equal footing to physical health.

In order to gain a deeper understanding of inefficiencies in cancer care, All.Can developed the report and explores the barriers patients face in accessing mental health support and examples of best practice across the NHS and voluntary sector in providing it.

Melanoma UK is a member of the All.Can UK Steering Group and is proud to be working on such an important topic.

May Brothers On Tour - Barcelona Marathon

On Sunday 10th March, myself and my brother Garry will be running the Barcelona Marathon in aid of Melanoma UK for a cause close to our hearts.

Melanoma UK provides patients and families with the much-needed support right from the point of diagnosis. Through education, advocacy and research, Melanoma UK strives to increase the awareness, understanding and prevention of melanoma skin cancer, which is the 5th most common cancer in the UK.

CHMP RECOMMENDS APPROVAL OF OPDIVO (NIVOLUMAB)

Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use (CHMP) of the European Medicines Agency (EMA) has recommended approval of Opdivo (nivolumab) as a monotherapy for the adjuvant treatment of adults and adolescents 12 years of age and older with completely resected stage IIB or IIC melanoma.

We recommend that you do a head-to-toe self-examination of your skin every month. This way you can find any new or changing lesions that might be cancerous or precancerous.

OVERVIEW OF MELANOMA

Melanoma is a type of cancer that starts in cells in the skin called melanocytes. These cells make a pigment called melanin which gives skin its natural colour.
